COLORED LIGHT RESEARCH
This research project builds on Jennifer Scott’s graduate project (2016) that investigates the effects of colored light on the human condition, and how designing with new LED technology can provide an engaging phenomenological experience.
In 2019, we established an experimental colored light space at WSU (photos below). Under COVID restrictions in 2020, we pivoted to digital survey methods to understand human appraisal, preference, and narrative around colored light as a primary spatial condition. In Spring of 2022, we conducted immersive experiments in the colored light space.
